Assistant Adjunct Professor at Pace University PhD Candidate in Computer Science at Pace University

      • Hello, my name is Avery Leider and I specialize in Computer Science. I am a retired Lieutenant Colonel, US Army, where I specialized in the technical areas of telecommunications and information assurance, which is my first love, but my human networking skills made me frequently assigned as a liaison officer to facilitate communications between organizations, or in human resources areas to solve challenges of people communicating with their organization. Communications between people is my second strength, but sometimes, in my Army service, it was more highly valued than my technical abilities. Now I work as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Pace University. Prior to this position, I was a Research Fellow at Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University. I am also a student, a candidate for PhD in Computer Science at Pace University with a graduation goal of May 2020.  My future goal is to be a Professor, to research and teach computer science subjects of all types, writing grants for my school to research computer science topics, and regularly publishing research in my field. I want to motivate and inspire students to help our nation with technology skills that they pursue with earnest confidence, with no fear of complexity. Pace University is veteran-friendly and this degree goal combines my human interpersonal skills with my technical side.  I hope in the future to also teach at Pace's School for Continuing & Professional  Education at their Midtown Center in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Test Preparation.  The accrediting body for the CISSP Test, ISC(2) Global Academic Program is currently restructuring that course, so it will be at some future time. I love working with computer security enthusiasts, fellow students and the faculty and staff at Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems and sharing what I've learned with them. I've participated in MobileWeek 2015 hackathon from April 18-20, 2015 in NYC and my team won a cash prize for our entry in the Virtual Reality Hackathon July 10-12 in NYC. I have a small company, Manhattan Programmers, LLC, where I have taken on small projects, though at present I am too busy with my PhD dissertation, so my little company is sound asleep now.  I like to attend MeetUps in NYC on topics of interest, like Angular.js and Virtual Reality using Oculus Rift.  This portfolio is my window to the world where my former students can find more about me and then get in touch for a chat about recommendation letters to support their next move.
